Cities have metabolisms. This makes them parts of nature. But we don’t act like that is the case. Thinking and acting out cities’ metabolisms should always be done in tandem with the thinking and acting out of the rhythms and metabolisms “external” to cities, those parts of nature that make cities possible. Maybe the metabolisms of cities should be slower than the “external” ones more often.
